Pinnacle Micro has announced the local availability of a new member to D-Link's range of Securicam Network Internet cameras - the DCS-6620G 10x Optical Zoom Internet Camera, featuring dual codec support, a 10x optical zoom lens, 802.11g wireless connectivity, built-in microphone and low-light sensitivity.
Tiens Lange, D-Link brand manager at Pinnacle, says that the camera features motorised pan, tilt and optical/digital zoom, offering users greater remote viewing options. "The 10x zoom auto focus/auto iris lens offers greater clarity in recordings than digital zoom alone," he says.
"Moreover, with the ability to record video in low light settings, the DCS-6620G can provide exceptional night surveillance with extreme low light sensitivity of 0,05 lux, enabling recording in near total darkness."
With support for both Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 recording, the camera is well suited to various recording scenarios. Motion JPEG delivers greater file integrity, making it ideal for critical monitoring situations. MPEG-4 video has smaller file sizes, making it more useful for extended recording periods or for use in low bandwidth networks.
The camera also uses D-Link's 2-Way Audio feature with its built-in microphone. Users simply attach a speaker to the camera and remotely communicate with subjects near the camera.
"Users can remotely monitor the camera using a Web-based interface, or through D-Link's IP surveillance software," says Lange. "The Web-based interface lets up to 10 simultaneous users view the live feed from the camera. With the IP software users can program, monitor and manage up to 16 cameras with the ability to set recording schedules, configure motion detection settings, and change settings to multiple cameras - all from the comfort of their office or home."
