CNA - first with security.

August '99 Asset Management

CNA's policy of being 'first with the goodies' has resulted in the signing of the largest single EAS order in South Africa to date. CNA recently signed an order for the additional installation of Checkpoint's RF EAS systems into 45 CNA stores across South Africa. The order, worth over R2 million, is additional to the over 20 Checkpoint systems already installed nationwide.

By maintaining focus since it first opened its doors in 1894, CNA has grown into a major national chain, with over 320 successful, aesthetically appealing stores. Yet, despite its success, CNA, like many other chains, recognises that millions of rands are lost to theft every year. Shop theft and dishonesty are causing chains like CNA to consistently lose money that could make a big difference in profit margins. By implementing innovative loss prevention and other security methods that are unobtrusive and blend with store aesthetics, CNA has managed to successfully challenge and overcome much of the high cost of retail theft.

"CNA decided to roll-out with Checkpoint because we believe that it is the technology that is leading the future with RFRID intelligent tagging just around the corner," says Stiaan Viljoen, Loss Control Executive for CNA. "After extensive trials and investigations we found Checkpoints RF EAS to be superior. We chose the best technology available for our best stores."

Checkpoint will complete the 45 installations by the middle of next year. CNA will use Checkpoint's new CD Coilsafe for the protection of its CDs and paper thin, flexible disposable labels to protect music videos, computer games and software as the RF labels do not damage the quality of magnetic media at all.

"We are very pleased that CNA has elected to install our systems in its stores and look forward to assisting in developing a superior shrinkage program that includes source tagging," says Checkpoint MD Neil O'Reilly.
