Limtech launches BioLock

July 2005 Access Control & Identity Management

Limtech recently added the BioLock to its range of biometric solutions. BioLock specifically targets the residential market for homes and complex security, but also has applications for offices, stock rooms and server rooms. This biometric fingerprint lock replaces the need for everyone in the household or office having a set of keys or sharing keys. BioLock means no more lost keys, or keys being copied - your fingerprint is your identity and you cannot lose it or leave it behind.

Each BioLock can store over 100 fingerprint templates and the enrolment of users, which takes 5-10 seconds is all done on the lock itself - no external software or PC is required.

Fingerprint scanning is via a damage resistant, PVD coated, optical fingerprint scanner and the process takes less than a second.

The BioLocks require no external wiring and are powered by four alkaline batteries, which clip neatly into the back of the unit and supply power to the unit for approximately 12 months or 15 000 transactions. A red indicator light alerts a low voltage, but allows a further 20-30 transactions before the power runs out.

In cases of emergency, a concealed mechanical override on the system is available.

The range of BioLock products caters for all requirements from entry level, single lever locks, to robust 5-lever international standard mortise.

The units are supplied complete with door handle, lever lock mortise, fingerprint biometrics and easy installation guide, all included.

The BioLock product range is available in a variety of aesthetically pleasing finishes from integrated cast steel or stainless steel, to chrome or brass.
