Hellermann Tyton has introduced a new earth resistance tester with three scales of 10/100/1000 Ohm, measuring to an accuracy of ±2,5% of full scale. The Toptronic T1805 instrument is self-contained and powered by eight 1,5 V dry batteries which are included. The tester generates a constant output current of approximately 2 mA and 800 Hz for the procedure.
For the precision earth measurement of a given earthed point, such as a buried electrode, two auxiliary earth spikes, included in the kit, are stuck into the ground in line with the spike under test at, for example, 10 m apart. The range is selected on a rotary selector switch, a button pressed and the earth resistance figure displayed on an analog scale.
An alternative method is explained in the instruction leaflet with the instrument for applications where it is not possible to drive the auxiliary spikes into the ground.
The T1805 comes complete with all the necessary connecting leads, clips, batteries and two auxiliary earth spikes, all arranged in a tough carrying case with hinged lid.
