"The beautiful building before you illustrates Intervid's commitment to development of key advantages in the spectrum of products by Intervid to clients. This is all very impressive. But it is what goes on in the building that underpins the soundness of the business sense." This was the comment by Intervid Chairman, Bill Lambert at the recent official opening of the company's Innovation Centre.
Lambert added that healthy sales against this solid backdrop of capacity to advance and improve products is why Intervid has recently been quoted in the Financial Mail last week as being one of the stars of the new listings of 1999.
Intervid's Innovation Centre has focused on three core areas, viz security systems, environmental monitoring systems and production line surveillance systems.
The company's products include the SAFFIRE (South African Forest Fire Detection), which is South Africa's first machine vision-based wildfire detection system designed to give extensive coverage from a single control centre. Fourteen cameras already cover several thousand square kilometres along the Drakensberg escarpment where all the major forestry companies have signed up for a second 3-year contract covering the forest plantations in the region.
