Looking after the security needs of foreign embassies and trade missions situated within South Africa's borders, is just another day's work for local security specialists, ADT Security. The British Department of Trade and Industry recently contracted ADT to install a 16-camera CCTV system at its Johannesburg premises and six of its employee's homes. The cameras, which monitor the building's perimeters, entrances and exits, are controlled on site.
A similar, state-of-the-art system has also been installed at the Algerian Embassy. "The Algerian Embassy's digital system is linked to key personnel and they can monitor all activity within the embassy 24 hours a day, seven days a week," says Jose Sardinha, ADT's CCTV business development manager.
According to Sardinha, foreign governments are supplementing their existing security arrangements with state-of-the-art CCTV systems because they are unobtrusive, effective and operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
