HID has announced an innovative new access control solution for customers who require support for both magnetic stripe and proximity card technologies. The Dorado 230 and 240 Combination/Transition card readers are compatible with standard ABA/ANSI/ISO and EMPI magnetic stripe cards as well as HID and EMPI proximity card formats.
The Dorado 230 and 240 dual-technology readers provide an ideal migration path from magnetic stripe to proximity-based access control by combining both technologies into a single reader. The readers are also designed to meet access control system user's needs for card readers that read both magnetic stripe and HID proximity cards. Many organisations are advancing their levels of security for permanent staff and employees with proximity but also have the desire to issue magnetic stripe cards to large temporary or high turnover populations, such as part-time or temporary employees, long-duration visitors, and contractors.
The Dorado 230 and 240 card readers feature weatherproof housing design in an insertion-style reader for increased security, connect to access control systems with Wiegand interface and Clock-and-Data format, read security, time and attendance badges, parking cards and other format-compatible cards, and mount on a single-gang electrical box. The Dorado 240 model includes a keypad for increased security when utilising a personal identification number.
