In a move that emphasises its leading position as an innovator of globally competitive technology, Prism Holdings has qualified for the latest ISO9001 (2000) certification for its SIM and smartcard production plant.
According to Mike Serrao, Prism Group operations director, this is a crucial upgrade to the earlier ISO9002 (1994) accreditation under which the facility had been operating. Prism is believed to be one of the first organisations in South Africa to upgrade to the latest ISO9001 specification.
"It assures Prism customers that our Springs-based facility complies with stringent global quality standards in a field in which service levels from a quality perspective are critical," he says.
"This, in conjunction with the fact that Prism recently invested R6-million in the latest SIM production plant machinery from Cybernétix of France, means we are also able to offer our customers higher throughput and more flexibility. "In fact, this investment effectively transformed Prism into the largest 'turnkey' manufacturer of high-end smartcards on the African continent," Serrao concludes.
