GE Interlogix Video Systems Group has announced that privacy masks on every CyberDome Day-Nite 25X and 18X PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) camera let administrators customise the camera's field of view as needed to maintain security while protecting people's privacy rights. Although all CyberDome cameras provide 360° of surveillance, users can now block portions of the camera's field of view. Administrators can program up to 24 privacy masks per camera with up to eight masks visible at any time.
"That means your camera only shows security personnel what they need to see," said Darren Nicholson, GE Interlogix Video Systems Group vice president of marketing. "In some applications, you may not want the camera to show everything in its field of view."
The CyberDome privacy mask is ideal for crowded urban environments where a camera's field of view includes private property. For example, at a combination commercial and residential building, administrators can set the privacy mask to block out apartment buildings on the upper floors while monitoring the first floor storefront and street. In a warehouse, the security personnel can monitor full coverage of the warehouse floor but not the warehouse offices.
