Not just access control

September 2003 Integrated Solutions

Evolved from an HVAC system developed by Control Systems International in the early '80s, I/Net seven includes many packaged features such as airconditioning and refrigeration control, lighting control and management, and of course access control and alarm monitoring.

Incorporating peer-to-peer communications over IP, PSTN, ISDN, fibre, and twisted pair, I/Net seven offers a solution where over 60 concurrently connected workstations can be configured to manage unique aspects of multiple sites and facilities. Logical segmentation in the user database and message distribution allows for up to 128 tenants, with 24 000 users each. This means that a single system can be partitioned so that many organisations can make use of common entry and exit points, but at the same time have exclusive and private control over their own doors, employees and historical events.

I/Net is not reliant on client-server technology. Databases whether at the workstations or in the controllers are equalised dynamically in realtime, thereby reducing installation and maintenance costs.

I/Net seven is proven in systems as large as 1600 doors and 1,6 million users, totally scalable from the smallest facility to the largest. The distributed architecture ensures that decisions are made at the lowest level in the network, regardless of whether all communications channels are open. Door controllers are updated in realtime and contain complete copies of all users, door schedules, access rights etc, so even when offline full functionality and security is maintained.
