GE Interlogix Video Systems Group recently announced that its new DVSe Software Version 2.00 introduces support for IEEE-1394 FireWire, which provides up to a 33 times faster throughput of image transfers when used in archive mode with GE Interlogix combination digital video multiplexer/recorders (DVMRe).
FireWire is an ultra-high-speed serial data connection developed by Apple that provides a high speed, serial input/output bus for computer peripherals, capable of transfer speeds of 400 Mbps. It is especially well-suited to transferring huge video files.
"The DVSe is a digital video storage system that provides extended storage capacity to a DVMR," said Darren Nicholson, GE Interlogix Video Systems Group vice president of marketing. "Designed exclusively for CCTV security users, this inexpensive desktop or rack-mountable disk array offers flexible solutions for extended storage and easy retrieval of digitised, compressed video data at extremely fast transfer rates of 400 Mbps.
