Most CCTV system installers must grapple with general-purpose electrical boxes in an attempt to create a respectable mounting/connection setup. With conventional enclosures, one mounts a camera to the component that also closes the box – the lid. The launch of the very first camera enclosure of its kind – the Camera-Den – has solved this problem by fundamentally changing the mounting and installation method.
Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the product is patented worldwide. It is suitable for use with analogue or IP technology dome and bullet cameras.
The first major difference is the way that the installer works with the ‘box’. A small mounting bracket is easily installed with two screws. The camera is mounted to the Camera-Den and then the entire assembly is mounted to the bracket with one screw.
The Camera-Den is made from GRP, a resin-based fibreglass material that lasts for decades in direct exposure and which will last for multiple generations of cameras. The IP level of the enclosure is IP66 which means that it will keep dust and water out. The manner in which the unit is mounted means that this IP level is not compromised when mounting the screws.
The Camera-Den measures 139 x 156 x 20 mm and weighs only 330 g. It is competitively priced, easy to install and because holes are already provided, installers are not required to make holes for cabling or conduits.
