With so many products available, how do you choose a DVR? Don’t look at all the different systems available, first look at the following list from Syntech and make your choices from there.
Storage capacity: Very important, most entry level DVRs allow for one or two hard drives, with the higher end units capable of four, six or even eight hard drives.
Hard drive: Only use a surveillance drive, the new WD Purple drive will complement any CCTV recording, built for 24/7, always-on, high-definition surveillance systems that use up to eight drives and 32 cameras. Exclusive firmware upgrades work with ATA streaming to reduce error pixilation and video interruptions that occur when using desktop drives in a surveillance system.
GUI: The graphical user interface must be easy to use and navigate for you to get the best out of the solution. You don’t want to spend hours trying to work out how to back up or retrieve recorded images.
Remote view: This has become one of the most important features in today’s market; you want to be able to view it over the Web and with different mobile devices - Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows.
