Identity, Security & Access Alliance focuses on intelligence and integration

The Identity, Security & Access Alliance (ISAA) held several launch events in Johannesburg in August 2025, highlighting the participating companies’ technical solutions, with a primary focus on the solutions made possible by integrating high-quality systems to deliver complete solutions that seamlessly work together for clients across multiple sectors. The companies involved in the ISAA are Ideco Biometrics, Boomgate Systems, and Keenfinity (previously Bosch Security Solutions). Ideco’s Martin Meltz hosted the event, highlighting the combined efforts of three expert companies with one vision. He noted that the goal of the ISAA is part of the evolution of integrated solutions, offering quality solutions with long-term support through service-level agreements (SLA).

As part of the solutions on offer, ISAA does not work alone; instead, it collaborates with respected companies that can install and maintain these solutions. ISF FSP’s inland executive head, Justin Fletcher, was on hand to discuss the company, its evolution, and why it supports integrated solutions comprised of high-quality products, matched with a similar level of service quality. Fletcher noted that trust is a key element of any long-term customer relationship, which aligns with the ISAA focus on quality products, solutions, and services.

Intelligence and predictive analytics

Quintin van den Berg, country business director for Keenfinity (with extensive experience at Bosch Security), spoke about the direction Keenfinity is taking globally and in Africa. The company manufactures its own products and has been developing video analytics since the 1990s. It has incorporated AI into its analytics, offering several analytics solutions in its cameras. Van Den Berg says the AI solutions from Keenfinity do not require calibration in 95% of the cases, with the system handling it automatically.

Every camera is equipped with 16 analytical apps pre-installed, with additional apps available for those who require them. The analytics range from PPE compliance to gun detection, as well as traditional motion or line-crossing detection. The key for Keenfinity is predictive intelligence, not post-incident analysis.

Physical access control

Melissa Rossouw from Boomgate took the stage next, speaking about the latest from the company, which customers can view at the Boomgate Experience Centres. She said the company has a long history of manufacturing physical access control solutions in accordance with ISO standards, with a focus on ensuring that the products can be seamlessly integrated into third-party systems.

Among the latest products mentioned was a cantilever gate that is suspended; in other words, no rails are guiding the gate. Additionally, a bi-folding speed gate was showcased, which opens in just six seconds. A new rubber island, which can be permanent or temporarily installed, was also mentioned.

For situations where access control is required at remote sites or for special events, Boomgate has transformed shipping containers into access stations equipped with turnstiles or other preferred access solutions. This can be combined with a trailer offering solar power to run the access system even when electricity is not available.

Rossouw said Boomgate’s ability to integrate into third-party systems was the primary reason it is part of the alliance, as providing quality solutions is only possible when the design, installation and all the components within the solution are of premium quality, with no weak links.

Creating certainty in identity

Ideco’s Marius Coetzee delivered the last presentation of the day, highlighting the company’s electronic identity solutions. He started by noting that identity is critical to everything, and that security is the foundation for progress. Naturally, identities need to be validated and authenticated to prevent fraud and identity theft, which requires reliable solutions.

Ideco has been working in the identity space for years and was the first company to bring Morpho (now Idemia) fingerprint readers into the country (Idemia’s Wouter du Toit was also at the conference). The company still sells Idemia-based solutions, which Coetzee describes as the “corporate standard”. Naturally, it also supports and integrates other quality brands to ensure there is a biometric modality and solution that fits every requirement, from facial and fingerprint biometrics to palm vein and iris recognition.

Ideco sells solutions based on the brands it represents and has also developed its own solutions to support identity management in corporations. The company is also certified to offer repairs down to the component level for Idemia devices. Apart from integration and customisation, Ideco provides professional and value-added services to its partners, as well as managed services.

A seamless identity journey

The ISAA showcased the alliance’s capabilities in a demonstration. It allowed people to register via their smartphone with a selfie. When they approached the camera covering the entrance of the demonstration area, their faces were recognised and a boom automatically opened for them. This type of setup could be extended to licence plate recognition or any other type of access to a company or event.

By combining augmented identity, predictive security, and intelligent access, the alliance creates a technology-driven framework that enables human-like decision-making, allowing for proactive and adaptive responses to evolving security challenges. It all culminates in what Meltz termed “the Seamless Identity Journey, an intelligent, unified experience that enables organisations to transcend fragmented systems by leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning and automation.”
