Secutel Technologies recently launched SecuVisit, a cloud-based visitor access control system. SMART Security Solutions asked Secutel’s Norman Pretorius for more information on the product and its capabilities.
According to Pretorius, SecuVisit’s versatility enables it to target a broad market that includes townhouse complexes, business parks, and lifestyle estates. It offers partial to full automation of the scanning process via handheld scanners or self-service kiosks.
“Handheld manned devices automatically trigger gates or booms once the scanning process is completed,” he explains. “On the other hand, self-service terminals offer self-scanning, PIN code input and triggering of gates or booms. In both cases, a valid invitation from a registered host is required for a positive result before access is allowed.”
Tenants or hosts have access to a web portal, which enables them to extend invitations to their visitors and schedule repeat visits at any time. Visitors can also opt for a pre-registration option, which streamlines the gate process by eliminating the need to enter a PIN.
Retail deliveries are one of the biggest challenges in the visitor management market. SMART Security Solutions asked if SecuVisit includes any solutions that will simplify these random visits/deliveries without risking security. Pretorius says that constant system development aims to address the security challenges posed by the ever-growing retail delivery market. “The goal is to alleviate visitor lane congestion whilst effectively managing the higher level of risk usually associated with random or unannounced deliveries.”
