Fotech, a bp Launchpad company and pioneer in fibre-enabled distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology, has signed a non-exclusive MOU with C3SS, a South Africa-based perimeter and infrastructure security company, to target specific African markets.
Brendon Cowley, chief executive officer for C3SS, says, “We specialise in projects that cover vast distances, large areas, harsh environments and difficult terrain. We thrive on those challenges and our approach is to use military-level security on commercial operations, so we did our due diligence before we partnered with Fotech, including extensive field testing. Fotech’s technology is proven to perform to our high standards and is ideal for monitoring locations that are common to Africa’s oil and gas industry.”
Fotech will be providing its DAS, in some cases combined with distributing temperature sensing (DTS) solutions, in conjunction with C3SS’ turnkey services – including data analysis, backup communication, fire detection and monitoring of intrusions – to oil and gas operations across Africa.
Abdul Aziz Syed, Fotech regional sales manager for Middle East and Africa, says, “This partnership is the next chapter for Fotech as we work with Africa’s oil and gas industry during the continent’s energy transition. Operators can rely on the combined expertise of Fotech and its partners to protect valuable assets, such as pipelines and refineries, effectively.”
C3SS has many years of perimeter and infrastructure security experience in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana and Mozambique, in industries including energy, mining, rail and aviation.
Fotech, with support from C3SS, will be exhibiting at Africa Oil Week between 3 and 7 October 2022 on stand A43. It will be the first time either company has had a presence at this event.
