RFID access options

Residential Security Handbook 2022: SMART Estate Living Residential Estate (Industry)

Suprema’s RFID Series presents the perfect solution for residential estates and apartments not requiring biometric authentication or in mix-and-match installations, such as installing RFID devices in areas where less stringent security is required and biometric devices at main entrances.

The RFID series includes the X-Station 2, Xpass 2, Xpass S2 and Xpass D2 access control devices, as well as the Airfob patch that enables mobile credentials through BLE on supported RFID readers that do not offer this functionality. The entire series is suitable for outdoor installation, with Xpass 2 and D2 also offering IK08 vandal-resistance. It is geared for contactless access and supports multiple RF card options, as well as mobile access through your phone’s NFC/BLE. X-Station 2 also supports QR codes.

Most of these devices can be installed stand-alone as part of a distributed system, except for the Xpass D2 range, which is purpose-made for centralised installations.

There are various options to choose from in each range. Here are a few aspects to consider when choosing the perfect device for your needs. Whether or not you need a keypad for PIN access (perhaps for one-time PIN entry in a visitor management system). What the best form factor for the installation is (mullion or gangbox). Is OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol) required for extra security? Will PoE add value in terms of less wiring?

X-Station 2 is the latest addition to the series. It takes Suprema’s RFID series to a new level, with support not only for RFID cards and mobile access, but also for QR codes. Equipped with a secure boot process, Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) and cameras for image logs, X-Station 2 improves security while safeguarding user data. X-Station 2 is easy to install, use and maintain with features like Power over Ethernet (PoE), an intuitive GUI on a 4-inch touchscreen and IP65 rating.
