Controlling a security gate, electric fence alarm or non-security-related installations (like pumps) can be challenging over long distances. ET Nice has developed a solution for this with a transmitter and a receiver that are cost-effective, powerful, weatherproof and durable.
“The ET NICE RXWP-RC receiver (RX) is wired up to the installation that needs to be controlled, while the ET NICE TXWP-RC transmitter (TX) is mounted close to either the user or the equipment activating the transmission. The distance between the TX and RX can be up to 1 km, but by using additional repeaters in a radio-clutter free environment with clear line of sight, an effective range of up to 10 km can be achieved,” says ET Nice sales and marketing executive, Gerald Kirsten.
Both the receiver and transmitter are hard-wired, 12-channel long-distance units with enhanced rolling code for uncrackable security and are compatible with all ET-Blu Mix rolling code transmitters and receivers. The TXWP-RC transmitter has a compact design of only 70 x 70 x 30.5 mm, an IPX4 rating and is characterised by energy efficiency.
Kirsten cites a number of instances where the long-range transmitters and receivers are proving extremely useful:
• Electric fence energisers. Electric fence energisers are noisy when armed, so they are usually installed far from the buildings where people live or work. By wiring the alarm’s output to the ET Nice long-range outdoor transmitter, when the electric fence alarm is triggered, the alarm signal is transmitted wirelessly for up to 1 km to the paired ET Nice long-range receiver, which is situated closer to the home or office.
• Water tank/reservoir pumps. On farms and industrial sites, water tanks and reservoirs are usually placed close to either the water source or where the water is required for use. This is often quite a distance from where people live or work. The ET Nice long-range outdoor receiver can be pole-mounted near the pump to provide clear line of sight to the paired ET Nice long-range transmitter. If the distance is less than 1 km (from 0 to 400 m), the pump can be activated using an ET-Blu Mix transmitter.
• Gate motors. Most ET Nice gate motors (operators) have a tamper alarm, which alerts the user when the gate is forced open or when the operator or safety beams are interfered with. The home occupant may choose to have the tamper alarm connected to the home alarm, so that the sound is heard at both the gate and in the home. Also, if an armed response service is activated through the home alarm system, tampering will alert the offsite control room. Kirsten suggests wiring the gate tamper alarm’s output to the ET Nice long-range outdoor transmitter, which is mounted on a pillar or wall. When the ET Nice gate operator or gate is tampered with and the alarm is triggered, the alarm signal is transmitted wirelessly to the home alarm (linked to an ET Nice receiver) and the alert is sounded.
“We are able to design a solution for any long-range requirements and invite interested parties to contact us to discuss the various options using the ET NICE RXWP-RC receiver and the ET NICE TXWP-RC transmitter,” says Kirsten.
