With the COVID-19 pandemic, body-worn cameras (BWC) now play an even more important role in safety and accountability than ever before, ensuring a more significant option in the protection of employees. Frontline employees now have an added step up in their safety, being able to deter potentially dangerous encounters and alert security officials in real time while keeping their distance.
In March this year, Motorola Solutions announced the latest addition to its video security portfolio, the integration of its VideoTag enterprise BWC and Avigilon Control Center (ACC) video management software. Lightweight and easily attached to uniforms, almost like ID badges, these cameras extend your current video security programme by providing live, first-person perspective video and audio from confrontational incidents between staff members and any situation they may face.
By simply pushing the camera button, the body-worn camera is activated and this immediately triggers an audible alarm to the control room. It also streams a live video and audio feed to the system operator. In addition, a 6-month standby battery life means hassle-free deployment and easy operation.
Industries such as higher education, healthcare, government, hospitality and retail, which have a large number of staff in frontline roles, benefit from body-worn cameras. By wearing the mobile camera, employees working in public facing roles are able to possibly deter incidents, capture events in real time, alert security operators and increase their level of personal protection.
“Motorola’s body-worn cameras are an exciting extension to our existing video surveillance solution set and a great value-add for our clients in key verticals. They are also an excellent offering as part of our COVID-19 Workplace Solutions, which makes use of technology to ensure safer and more hygienic workplaces, maintain social distancing, manage sites remotely and simplify maintenance,” says Carlo Klopper, managing director of FS Systems.
