Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) specialist Wavetrend has re-engineered its flagship access control product, System 42, combining the latest technologies with a host of new features.
At the same time it has renamed the product to Q IE (Integrated Edition) signifying a higher level of quality, a change in the product's marketing strategy and a new distribution strategy, details of which Wavetrend will announce in the near future.
Whilst the core functionality of the access control system remains unchanged, the product has been modified to include new features, introduce a higher level of stability, a more user friendly interface and improved management functionality.
Product manager Gareth Nesbitt says perhaps the most salient addition to Q IE is the inclusion of Crystal Reports that allows users to produce customised reports regarding the 'comings and goings' of personnel, visitors, contractors or whomever else visits the premises.
"Because the reports are run from the user's web server, authorised personnel can access them from any connected workstation on the company's network or even from any Internet connected PC or laptop irrespective of its location."
The enhanced version also allows users to include Wavetrend designed 'event triggers', which may be customised to suit individual needs. Other areas of improvement include the mapping facility or building layout, which allows users to move icons such as readers or doors, thereby being able to depict the movement of cardholders within the building that can be altered to suit the environment.
Wavetrend has bundled Digiview and Visilog visitor enrolment stations that simultaneously take photographs and tapes voice recordings. Also bundled is a Knoware in/out board to let receptionists know at a glance who is in and who is out.
