Approved to the latest European standards - EN54 part 5 and part 7 (2000), the ECO1000 smoke detector family from System Sensor is now available locally from Honeywell-TeqTrader. The ECO1000 family consists of a photoelectric detector, a combined photo-thermal unit and fixed and rate-of-rise thermal detectors, all interchangeable into a range of bases to ensure full compatibility with most control panels on the market.
By using one of three relay base options, they can also be easily integrated into a 12 V security system. The photoelectric and the photo-thermal detectors have automatic drift compensation to offset changes in sensitivity, resulting in unwanted false alarms, which would otherwise arise from the build up of dust during use. The multisensor unit responds to either smoke or heat or a combination of both: an embedded microprocessor running sophisticated algorithms provides a fast response to 'real fire' situations.
Possibly the most innovative new feature to be incorporated in the ECO1000 is its laser-based remote test capability. The engineer can test the detector from ground level, doing away with the need for long poles or stepladders and consequently saving considerable time during commissioning or maintenance.
