Q Data DynamiQue successfully delivers T&A solution for Rainbow Farms

September 2002 Access Control & Identity Management

The Rustenburg plant of Rainbow Farms is one of three processing plants of the company in South Africa and processes in excess of one million chickens per week.

With close to 2500 employees and additional contractors and visitors entering the plant daily, Rainbow Farms Rustenburg (RFR) needed an automated time and attendance system to replace the legacy system. RFR also required the new system to integrate with its existing Impro Technology access control system.

Until December 2001 RFR used a manual clock-card system to monitor worker attendance. Although security was of a high standard, reporting on worker attendance and productivity suffered as a result of the manual reporting system. The need to control productivity motivated management to look at possible options to replace the legacy system.

Q Data DynamiQue (QDD), a division of Comparex Africa, supplied RFR with a time and attendance solution, Timekeeper, which integrated with the current access control system, provided RFR with realtime information on attendance and productivity hours. It also seamlessly integrated with the HR system, which was also supplied by QDD and used by Rainbow Farms countrywide.

"QDD's Timekeeper solution not only addressed our time-keeping needs, but also modernised our access control to the plant," comments Laura Botma, human resources manager at Rainbow Farms Rustenburg. "The open ended design allowed us to interface the application with the data collection terminals supplied by another vendor. Not only is the system very user friendly, but it also generates high quality reports allowing us to map productivity patterns and plan future growth."

QDD is the sole distributor of the Lavie TimeTECH Time Accounting solution in South Africa. The Time Accounting solution comprises:

* TimeKeeper, a full featured time and attendance application module.

* TimeCosting, designed to collect, analyse and monitor labour distribution and/or activity-based costing.

* Department allocation supports the monitoring and controlling of hours worked per department.

Other modules of the Time Accounting suite are the Hotel Staff Costing module, and the Advanced Benefit Accrual module which is used to control leave.
