Assa Abloy's Identification Technology Group (ITG) recently announced the establishment of a Hong Kong-based distribution centre that will serve HID's customers in the Asia Pacific region. This warehousing and card processing operation is aimed at reducing shipping times and increase convenience to HID's Asia Pacific customers by stocking products, taking orders, and providing full card programming. Customer care and technical support will also be localised.
The Hong Kong distribution centre is the result of an on-going effort by ITG to meet the challenges of working with unique cultures and customs in international markets. In order to assure a smooth operational transition, the changeover will take place gradually over a three-month period which began in May.
"The Hong Kong distribution centre will provide customer service and technical support to HID's Asia Pacific customers in a more convenient time zone and in a range of languages," said Lester Doig, Managing Director of the Hong Kong distribution centre. "Other benefits include more flexible ordering and lower freight costs."
