Aluvin Securiseal, a company that carries a full range of relevant seals for the cargo industry, has recently introduced three new models developed in the United States by E.J. Brooks.
The new seals are:
* The reusable SeaLock is designed to protect the keeper bars on container doors and consists of three components namely the U-shaped bracket, the locking bar and the special lock and key. Made of rugged ductile iron, this product can be installed in seconds and is highly tamper evident.
* The disposable SeaLock is similar to the reusable version and has a dual locking function as it locks the seal securing the keeper bars and is passed through the latch, which locks into the bolt.
Further, the cable seal component is a patented feature exclusive to the SeaLocks. The only way to unlock the container is to destroy the SeaLock by cutting it with an acetylene torch or power tool. This seal is designed for use on containers carrying valuable and high risk cargo and where the use of keys is eliminated.
The other new SeaLock introduced by Aluvin is the Junior SeaLock, which is a cost effective, disposable, high security seal. This seal combines the strength of the 4,5 mm diameter aircraft cable with the performance and reliability of a specialised bolt locking case.
The cable length is wrapped around the keeper bars and the tapered end is passed through the cable locking chamber. Once pulled up tightly, the other cable is passed through the door hasp and the bullet end is secured in the intermodal seal body. An important feature is that the cable needs to be cut in two places, essentially doubling the security of the shipment. The seal can only be removed by a heavy duty cable cutter.
