HID's small, disk-shaped MicroProx Tag transponder allows users to add HID proximity to any nonmetallic apparatus by attaching the adhesive-backed tag to the device. With the MicroProx Tag, cellphones, PDAs, and other similar devices can now be used for access control.

The MicroProx Tag also enables users to transition from card technologies such as magnetic stripe, Wiegand or barium ferrite to proximity technology. End-users who are not currently using access control can cost-effectively turn their plastic ID badge into a proximity credential. Once the MicroProx Tag is adhered to the existing ID badge, it becomes technology enabled.
