September 2019 News & Events, Information Security

Check Point Software Technologies has appointed Pankaj Bhula as regional director for Africa. He will be responsible for driving Check Point’s market share and business growth across the continent.

Bhula has over 25 years’ experience in the IT sector, both locally and internationally. He has worked for the likes of IBM, Dimension Data, Microsoft, and most recently SAP, where he headed several units ranging from the Strategic Partnership Organisation, to the Cloud Group and General Business Division.

As a Computer Science and MBA graduate, Bhula has achieved notable success throughout his career. During his tenure at Microsoft he was awarded ‘Manager of the Year’ and led the Microsoft team that won ‘Best Team of the Year’.

Commenting on his appointment, Bhula says: “I am excited about the opportunities that are emerging throughout Africa. I look forward to expanding Check Point’s coverage model across the continent and accelerating our growth.”

Looking to grow Check Point’s market share, he will be placing special focus on businesses within the financial services, telecommunications, public sector, utilities, energy and natural resources.

“Security is not a luxury; it is a necessity. It has become a fundamental requirement for organisations across all fields, especially when you factor in the sophistication of cybersecurity threats today. As we find ourselves amid the fifth generation of cyber-attacks, businesses require Gen V cybersecurity like Check Point Infinity to ensure that they are protected. Previous generations of cybersecurity will not be enough,” he concludes.
