The South African branch of TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) will be holding its annual conference at Emperor’s Palace, Gauteng on 26 July 2019. The theme of this year’s event is ‘A Layered Security Approach to Cargo Protection’ and will feature a cross-section of speakers who are respected specialists in their particular fields.
Thorsten Neumann, the recently elected president and CEO of TAPA EMEA, will speak on the topic “Risk takers vs. resilience makers… you do have a choice.” He will cover the benefits of becoming a TAPA member as a proven way to reduce supply chain losses, improve brand protection, enhance customer loyalty, improve employee safety, optimise supply chain efficiency, and connect with government ministries, regulatory bodies and law enforcement.
Neumann has served in a voluntary capacity as chairman of TAPA’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region since 2006, alongside his responsibilities as, most recently, director, APS Channel Security & Business Resilience at Microsoft. Over the last 13 years, he has been part of a TAPA EMEA leadership team which has delivered unprecedented growth and benefits for the association’s more than 410 member companies and partners in EMEA.
A civil expert in the NATO Transport Group, Neumann began his global supply chain security career with Motorola Mobility in 1998, before joining Nokia in 2008 and ultimately holding the post of director, Devices & Retail Supply Chain Security/Business Resilience. In 2015, he joined Microsoft, holding senior director posts in Europe and the United States.
