The International Security Industry Organisation (ISIO) and the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) has announced a series of virtual courses aimed at criminologists, security, investigation, protection and risk management practitioners. These 1-hour virtual workshops are endorsed by ISIO and the IFPO
Practitioners will not gain a generic overview of security, investigation and risk management, but the courses (also available as in-class programmes) are flavoured differently to address different verticals. For example, the courses cover the following areas:
• Organised crime, gang crime and the ever-changing conventional crime
• Correctional services and detention centres
• International security management
• Polarised neighbourhood policing
• Border control and immigration
• Corporate and industry security
• Critical Infrastructure Security
• Security investigations
• Hotel security
The courses are held at various times throughout the year. Coming up next will be Security and Criminology Investigation Management. This workshop is delivered to a maximum of 10 people and covers:
• The difference between security and criminology investigators
• Organised crime, gang crime and the ever-changing conventional crime
• Critical thinking the narrative
• Reading the situation and the people involved or a person-of-interest
• Why some people are not 'cut-out' to be investigators
• Selecting the experts
• Evidence handling and securing the custody of evidence
