Other key appointments to the operations team include procurement manager, Elliott Purse, and supply chain and logistics manager, Gavin Molde. Molde is an experienced supply chain project manager with an extensive track record of delivering successful projects within the telecommunications industry. In addition, Purse has more than a decade of experience in the procurement field, working for specialist manufacturing companies such as Amphenol and McLaren Automotive.

Together the two are playing a vital role in ensuring all components needed for Hochiki Europe’s product manufacturing, and the resulting finished goods, are readily available and delivered to customers on time.

Hochiki Europe has recently introduced a new production line and has upgraded cutting-edge smart-manufacturing equipment at its UK factory in Kent. Bessey’s remit includes ensuring that these technological advancements result in clear customer benefits in the form of ultra-efficient manufacture, assembly and shipping of Hochiki Europe products.

With over 15 years’ industry experience, Martin-Bessey’s career to date has focused on improving process flow and performance for a number of leading manufacturers, including Dyson and Assa Abloy (Yale). Using his extensive knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing, he has already implemented a number of innovative procedures that build on Hochiki Europe’s existing successes in this area.

With the new processes, Hochiki Europe has achieved significant measurable success, including: increased delivery performance, reduced lead times and improved manufacturing resilience. One example is the introduction of new surface mount technology for the manufacture of Hochiki Europe’s printed circuit boards. With this investment, micro-components can be installed more quickly and with greater precision and efficiency.

Looking ahead, Martin-Bessey is looking to bring further investment into Hochiki Europe’s operational capabilities to grow the company’s automation and lean manufacturing capabilities.
