LunarX Consulting and Projects, a new value-added distributor of high-end security solutions, was launched at an event at Serengeti Estate in March. The company, along with partners Bosch and Genetec, used the event to describe the new company as well as the relationship it has established with its partners. LunarX will service the upper echelon markets in South Africa and elsewhere in Africa.

Henry Brown, a member of Sensor Security Systems board of directors, has been appointed as managing director of LunarX. He says the company aims to position itself as a progressive supplier through its partnerships.

“The security market is one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in Africa, but the traditional distribution model that focuses solely on box-moving is becoming obsolete,” said Brown. “There is an increasing demand for professional high-end consultation, system design and the supply of innovative products.

“LunarX specialises in this sector by focusing on the project market and consultants. Our services include consultation on product and design to security integrators and installers, to enable them to procure global leading brands with our technical support for implementation.

“To achieve this, we are partnering with Bosch and Genetec. Bosch Building Technologies offers a full turnkey solution, comprising video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire detection and voice evacuation systems as well as access control and building management. Genetec’s flagship product, Security Center, is an open-architecture platform that unifies IP-based video surveillance, access control, automatic licence plate recognition (ALPR), communications and analytics.

“The integration between these two brands is a match made in heaven and we are looking forward to professionally lead in our challenging market with innovation and superior expertise,” Brown said.

Daniel Fernandez, regional director, sub-Saharan Africa of Bosch Building Technologies, applauds this partnership. “Bosch Building Technologies and our trusted integration partner Genetec, look forward to working with LunarX in offering integrated security and safety solutions with end-to-end data security to the local market. Expansion into Africa is a key objective for Bosch and together with our chain of certified partners we will continue to develop and invest in this continent.”

The event was also used to announce that LunarX will hit the ground running, as Bosch announced the first occasion for its Integration Partner Programme (IPP) to show its mettle in Africa. Jaco Liebetrau, head of sales for Bosch Building Technology in sub-Saharan Africa, noted that IPP is designed to offer customers technologies Bosch doesn’t provide, but that the programme ensures the technology is fully integrated at all levels to ensure smooth and seamless operations.

The integration between Bosch’s security products and Genetec has been completed at a level in which all the features are easily available in an integrated solution. The hard work has been done to ensure streamlined integration that doesn’t require additional coding. This deep integration is what LunarX will capitalise on.

Brent Cary, regional sales manager for Genetec in Africa said that that the company has chosen to partner with LunarX for a number of reasons: “Its many years of experience in the physical security industry, its geographical reach across South Africa, and now into the rest of sub-Saharan Africa, and its levels of expertise in consulting, system design and project implementation and after-sales support, all contribute to this very strong partnership.”

Cary added, “Genetec and Bosch have a long-term strategic partnership. We share the same core values and are proud to say all Bosch IP cameras are supported by design in Genetec. Our partnership has driven integration between not only IP cameras and IP encoders; the latest Bosch intrusion control panels are also fully integrated into the Genetec unified security platform, Security Center. Operators benefit from seamless control of security devices, as they can leverage Security Center to monitor intrusion panels using the same client application as the Genetec video surveillance solution. The combination of our expertise bodes well for this partnership with LunarX.”
