ASIS delivers security theory and practice

1 November 2018 News & Events, Conferences & Events, Training & Education

ASIS International is one of the world’s pre-eminent security organisations, comprising over 35 000 global security professionals seeking to network, share ideas and build relationships which will help them on a day-to-day basis and throughout their careers to achieve success.

Members have access to a vast array of resources and benefits to stay abreast of the latest trends, global developments and security innovations to mitigate risk and stay ahead of the curve.

In support of these ideals, the Johannesburg Chapter has partnered with Hi-Tech Security Solutions to present an event on Thursday 21st February 2019, where selected manufacturers and leading subject matter experts will be brought together in a unique opportunity to ‘show and tell’ their latest concepts and products, with a particular focus on pre-detection through to perimeter security.

This will be the first of a series of like events this year with future topics including facilities security, insider threats and cybersecurity, but consideration will be given to any subjects that anyone would like to suggest.

The format of the event will include workshop-style explanations of the concepts, products and legal implications, where the audience will have an opportunity to question the experts and give input on how they can best be used within an integrated security risk management programme.

The current confirmed concepts and products include:

Enterprise security risk management

• Situational awareness and intelligence

• Artificial intelligence

• Radar

• Drones

• Thermal imaging technologies

• Megapixel camera technologies

• Perimeter fencing

• Advanced people and asset tracking

• Security response

After lunch, the manufacturers will be demonstrating their equipment during interactive real-life scenarios with live inputs from the audience. Where practicable, some members of the audience will also be given the opportunity to take part in the activities.

The event will be hosted at the prestigious Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate in Gauteng and include refreshments and a buffet lunch in the clubhouse.

The cost of attending the event is R2000 for non-ASIS members and R500 for ASIS members.

However, the Johannesburg Chapter is keen to encourage new members to join their numbers this year and so are making an offer to all non-ASIS members wishing to attend.

If the event is paid for in full on booking and the non-member joins ASIS International before 31st March 2019, the Chapter will refund the first year’s membership fee ($100) in full.

The ASIS International website contains all of the information to convince you of the benefits of joining the organisation.
