Cathexis at Securex SA 2017

July 2017 Conferences & Events, Surveillance

Cathexis Technologies had a successful exhibiting experience at Securex 2017.

“As one of the leading IP Video Management Software developers in the global security industry, we are continuing our expansion into African markets and establishing a strong presence in this region,” says Gus Brecher, managing director of Cathexis Africa and business development director of Cathexis Africa. “Participating at key industry events such as Securex gives us an opportunity to talk to new and current clients, and find out how we can adequately address their requirements.”

Cathexis Technologies launched the latest version of CathexisVision 2018 by demonstrating some of the features along with the latest enhancements to this software suite.

Cathexis has identified several security challenges in the African region and the need for high-end, integrated surveillance solutions. “While most of the visitors we met were from South Africa, we also had the opportunity to network with potential clients from the SADC region as well as a few from East Africa,” says Albert O. Abincha, regional account manager: East Africa, Cathexis Africa.

Cathexis has added several enhancements to its Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) solution, including vastly improved recognition times, additional licence plate libraries as well as an improved database search and reporting infrastructure.

The CathexisVision Advanced Video Analytics feature significantly boosts the value of any CCTV surveillance installation with the ability to configure analytics on both pre-recorded and live footage. CathexisVision2018 includes vastly improved background modelling techniques, which will improve effectiveness in outdoor environments by reducing false positives.

CathexisVision 2018 software also simplifies the software licensing structure to facilitate easier installation for distributors and installers.

Cathexis has launched a Dynamic Video Stream Selection (DVSS), which allows client viewing stations and video walls to automatically switch between high and lower resolution video streams from cameras depending on the screen layout selected. This dramatically increases the number of cameras that can be viewed on a single viewing client machine. To further improve performance the software will offload processing to select GPU (Graphical Processing Unit) hardware. Both these features mean less hardware and therefore lower cost of ownership for users.

The new web-based design tools enable partners to easily calculate both hardware and licence requirements for their opportunities.
