CCTV cameras have become a standard component in security across all markets. In the residential estate security market, security managers rely on these devices to protect their residents in collaboration with other technologies and an assortment of human guards and operators. Unfortunately, due to the large range of cameras available and some slick salespeople, the decision as to which cameras are best suited to which situations is not always easy to make.
Hi-Tech Security Solutions and Rob Anderson will be hosting a full day Residential Estate Security Conference in Durban on 22 June at the Durban Country Club. Two of the presentations offered on the day will focus on surveillance with the view to giving those estate managers responsible for security an overview of the options they have when it comes to CCTV surveillance.
The first presentation will focus on thermal and optical cameras, presented by Philip Smerkovitz, MD of TeleEye (South Africa). Philip will discuss the differences between these two types of cameras and what they are most useful in accomplishing. He will explain the benefits and application of the each, as well as the situations in which they will deliver the best results for estates.
Philip will also delve into what all the acronyms and abbreviations mean, to allow estate managers to select the right camera for their requirements.
Following the thermal/optical presentation, Jason McGregor from Bosch Security Systems will focus on optical cameras, discussing what the various types of cameras on the market are, the benefits of megapixel high-definition cameras, and how to understand which camera will deliver the best results, and where.
Jason will also discuss the important topic of video analytics and how it can assist in improving the safety and security of estates. He will differentiate between motion detection and real analytical applications, and explain whether higher resolution images will give you better analytical results.
After these presentations, attendees will have a better concept of what is available from surveillance cameras today, what will be entering the market soon and how they can gain the best results and obtain the optimal cost efficiencies from surveillance solutions. If you can ask the right questions, you can receive useful answers.
