Seedrive has launched a new plug and drive tracking unit. E-Drive is a user friendly plug-and-play tracking/monitoring system that plugs into the vehicles OBD II diagnostics port (vehicle dependent) which communicates directly with the vehicles ECU. This ensures that data retrieved from the live Internet-based system is accurate and factual. This is a driver scoring device which allocates a driving score to the vehicle determined by factors such as harsh turning, harsh breaking, harsh acceleration, over-speeding, over-revving, fatigue driving etc.
The E-Drive unit also provides the user with information such as detailed segmented fuel consumption details, precise vehicle location at the time of a knock/accident or roll-over, illegal ignition. The user can also use Google Street Maps as well as the Google Earth Street View for a closer look at the vehicle’s precise location, and with the track playback function, you can retrieve data from as far back as 12 months.
E-Drive is popular with various motor vehicle dealerships as there is no stripping of dash-boards or cutting in on the wiring harness. This unit can work in conjunction with any other tracking device and can also serve as a back-up tracing device should the dedicated tracking device be discovered and removed. The position accuracy of this device is 2.5 metres and has a speed accuracy of 0.1m/s. The E-Drive unit can also be fitted more permanently if so desired.
The Driver Scoring feature of this device can be incorporated into various insurance policies as an incentive for drivers to improve on their current driving habits.
