Installing a CCTV system is one thing, keeping it running optimally is a different challenge altogether. When your technology is maintained effectively, the results obtained from your surveillance solution will reflect the additional care.
At iLegal 2016, Francois Malan, MD of Camsecure, will discuss the importance of the service level agreement (SLA) in ensuring your CCTV system is kept at its operational best. Avoiding standard platitudes about maintenance and care, Francois will touch on more of the practical issues of maintaining a site, whether you should do it yourself or rely on professionals experienced in getting the best out of surveillance technology.
Francois has years of experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of network-based security systems in some of the largest shopping centres, banking, hotels and mining sites. He has been involved in designing, developing and implementing software integrations for the security industry in Africa, America, Europe and the Middle East.
He believes there needs to be a balance between people, process and technology, but that in most cases technology is not being properly implemented and utilised. Francois spent some time assisting Crime Intelligence during the spate of mall robberies and became familiar with security system inadequacy that contributed in many of the shopping centres becoming soft targets, maintenance being one of the biggest factors.
At the end of the day, Francois says it is a two-way relationship that needs to be looked at realistically.
