Against the backdrop of a ramp-up in housebreaking, burglary and home robberies, Duxbury Networking has released a battery-powered smart home security video camera capable of rapid, flexible installation without the need for cords or wiring.
The Netgear Arlo is a high-definition camera, capable of delivering sharp 720/1080 progressive display-format-based images. It comes with built-in night vision and motion-alert features. It includes infrared cut-off filters to minimise sensitivity to near-infrared light and the possibility of false alarms.
The camera is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications, being able to withstand severe weather and temperature conditions.
“The Netgear Arlo is able to alert the home owner or security services via SMS or e-mail when motion in a pre-determined area is detected,” says Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking. “We also supply a number of free apps to facilitate remote monitoring on smartphone, tablet or computer and the storage of images and data in the cloud where instant reviews and the sharing of images are possible.”
Up to 15 cameras – each with a 110-degree field of view – can be connected to the cloud and up to four can be monitored live at any time.
