Forum brings standards to industry

June 2015 Associations

Considered the watchdog of industry, the South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA) is an association of service providers of security systems, ranging from basic alarms to sophisticated electronic intruder detection systems and CCTV, and incorporating signal monitoring as well as the provision of armed reaction services.

The association aims to assist companies in achieving the highest level of standards with regard to the whole spectrum of security equipment. This will protect not only the consumer, but similarly the reputable companies who aspire to raise their quality standards in line with best global practice.

Following on its successful breakfast in 2012, SAIDSA has decided to host a breakfast forum on 29 July in Cape Town. The morning’s activities will comprise a hearty breakfast, an introduction to the benefits members can derive from joining SAIDSA and four seminar topics, followed by an exhibition hosted by ESDA (Electronic Security Distributors Association) in the adjoining room.

SAIDSA’s Craig van Rensburg explains that the topics include Bylaw 5, which discusses the best manner in which to install an alarm; Bylaw 3, which covers armed response standards; Bylaw 1 which focuses on control room standards; and a presentation by the Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) group in the Western Cape. SAIDSA chairman Pierre Gouws, Craig van Rensburg, Johan Hulme, Alan Kusevitsky and Craig Ginsberg are the speakers for the morning.

All sessions will be interactive, with questions from the audience encouraged. “We invite current and potential corporate customers, insurance companies as well as local neighbourhood watch/community policing forum representatives to attend,” says Van Rensburg.

A total of 200 people can be accommodated at the Riverclub in Observatory and with seats filling up fast, SAIDSA encourages delegates to register by contacting Cheryl Ogle on +27 (0)11 845 4870 or email: [email protected]

ESDA brings security products exhibition to the Cape

Lee-Ann Andreka of ESDA says the association is once again working with SAIDSA. There is a great deal of synergy between SAIDSA and ESDA, since ESDA comprises the suppliers and manufacturers of products, while SAIDSA comprises the bulk of the purchasers of the products.

The Cape Town event will see ESDA bringing its members to the Cape to showcase their electronic security products and solutions. A number of companies will be exhibiting a wide range of security equipment.

The roadshow provides buyers and specifiers with a great opportunity to come and see products on display and discuss their security technology requirements with the industry experts on each stand. The roadshow will close at 13:00 and guests are invited to attend after the SAIDSA breakfast.
