The CATE (cell activated terminal emulator) from Lark Street Investments is a terminal installed at a remote site and able to monitor, activate and control functions and collect data utilising a GSM network as a communication medium.
Included in the host of applications that CATE can be used for is vehicle tracking and fleet management. This sophisticated vehicle tracking/management system would be able to not only track and report on a vehicle fleet, but to issue a range of commands to the control unit.
These commands include:
* Cut power - disabling vehicle.
* Cut fuel - rendering vehicle unusable.
* Poll system via GPS - pinpointing vehicle position on map and monitoring movement.
Applications of CATE seem endless, and control and commands could be actioned via the GSM Network, or via your PC using customised software.
According to Lark Street Security, especially vehicle tracking should also be about control, and with a vehicle tracking management system, one can have complete control.
