Schneider Electric has enhanced its Smart-UPS On-Line offering to include the 5 and 6 kVA models with the aim of addressing the growing needs of space constrained, power dense server rooms and network closets in southern Africa.
“The power consumption and availability requirements for IT equipment is increasing and customers require a uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that can handle more power in less space, and offer excellent power quality and efficiency in a flexible design with the features that will make it easy to install, operate and service in almost any environment,” says Bruce Grobler, IT Business director at Schneider Electric South Africa.
The new Schneider Electric On-Line Smart-UPS 5 and 6 kVA are ‘electrotechnical’ units and are Schneider Electric's complementary addition to its other offers within this market. Factory installed ‘hard wire’ input and output connections address the requirements of electrical installers, particularly in the facilities and building infrastructure markets.
“The Schneider Electric Smart-UPS On-Line is ideal for environments requiring extremely tight voltage and frequency regulation, internal bypass, and input power factor correction,” says Grobler.
Based on the three elements of availability, manageability and adaptability, the new online models offer double conversion online topology providing a no-break supply; a hot swappable battery replacement system that ensures uptime; plug-and-play external batteries for clean, uninterrupted power to loads when adding additional runtime; and an internal bypass that ensures power to the load in the event of UPS failure.
