The demand for CCTV storage capacity to record video surveillance images is growing rapidly, driven by increasingly higher resolution cameras and longer data retention policy requirements. According to Miro’s video product manager, Izelle Ackermann, this results in the need for increased storage capabilities. To contain costs it is necessary to consider adopting a scalable solution with RAID redundancy.
“As a recognised distributor of high-end Milestone IP solutions, Miro is able to offer customers the Husky series with built-in HDDs. Not only are the Husky’s fully customisable to specific customer needs, but the interactive and multi-layered maps provide graphical overviews and an alarm manager to integrate with map functions, for a consolidated overview of security systems,” says Ackermann.
The Husky has advanced video search to quickly locate recordings for high-quality evidence, and multiple Husky M30s and M50s can be connected to provide users with a scalable and automated system.
In another offering from Miro, QNAP has launched its new NVR firmware QVR 5.0 (QNAP VioStor recording system). The system includes an intelligent desktop with multi-window design, simplified user interface and newly added features that include a floating toolbar, playback shuttle bar, and video thumbnails. VioStor NVR also supports licence management, for flexible channel expansion, and remote access via the myQNAPcloud service.
QVR 5.0 supports smart recording functions that eliminate the need for constant storage consumption, thus achieving greater storage efficiency and boosting recording quality when alarm events occur. Administrators can now flexibly define settings including compression, resolution, and FPS. Quality settings for multiple video streams (supported by specific camera models) can be defined according to bandwidth resources and the number of live-view channels. Users can then select a proper video stream for live-view.
