FDIA recommends approved products

As part of FDIA membership enrolled companies have agreed to abide by standards implemented by the SABS. South African standards recommend that products carrying international approvals should be utilised, preferably with approvals from EN, BS, LPC, FM.

There have been several products recently introduced to the South African market produced by local companies that have not undergone any recognised test procedures or been through any recognised approval body. It is advisable that these products are carefully assessed.

The FDIA recommends careful consideration is given to any product that contractors install on a premises and contractors should be requested to submit testing and approval certificates on products they wish to install.
