Sensormatic Electronics Corporation, a leading supplier of electronic security solutions, recently announced that the Automobile Association in the United Kingdom has begun source tagging a majority of its London street atlases with the Ultra*Max anti-theft technology. With source tagging, small anti-theft labels are placed on merchandise during manufacturing to ensure that products are protected against theft before they reach the retail outlet.
The Automobile Association began its source tagging program last May with the launch of AA Publishing's new street atlases, Street by Street. All AA London atlases in the mini, midi and maxi formats will be tagged with a Sensormatic Ultra*Max anti-theft label before reaching their retail destination.
"We knew that London street atlases were being specifically targeted by thieves, which meant a number of stores were no longer putting them on open display in-store, but behind the counter instead," said Simon Willis, AA Publishing's UK Trade Sales Director. "So, when we planned the launch of our brand-new Street by Street program, we consulted a number of major retailers about how to keep the London atlases on the shelves of the bookshops."
