Castle Access Control Systems was another exhibitor at the breakfast with its access control, biometric and intercom solutions on show.
Castle director, Warwick Forde says the show was a success for Castle with a fantastic turnout and good responses from people who stopped at the company’s exhibit to talk about the products on display. He says the biometric systems from Granding that Castle had on display attracted significant interest from visitors.
When it comes to residential estates, Castle distributes the Mircom range of intercoms, which have found homes in many residential installations in South Africa and across the world. Forde says Mircom provides reliable communications between the gate and residences, and performs well in local conditions.
One big change coming for Mircom will be the release of the TCP/IP enabled upgrade later this year. This will put Mircom and all its functionality on the Web, meaning estate managers can add or delete numbers remotely from their Internet browser. It will also make downloading reports of who did what, when, easier.
Forde adds that many estates today are looking at biometrics as the next step in fast and controlled access. Correctly installed biometric systems allow residents quick access to the estate and prevents unauthorised people from getting in. In addition, the free software provided with Granding biometrics allows for additional time and attendance functionality. Domestic workers and contractors can be granted free access at certain times during the week, but locked out over weekends or at night, for example.
And once again, reports are easily available to see the traffic coming and going at various times. Castle has also ensured that its systems can easily be integrated with other local products, such as Softcon, to ensure clients enjoy the seamless integration of their security installation.
