Underlining the company's commitment to local development and manufacturing as a main criterion for its future strategy, Pi will shortly launch its own control panel.
Marketed under the Pi brand name, the product will offer state-of-the-art features at a cost-effective price. The company's decision to manufacture its own panel was to counteract price fluctuations and to present Pi with a springboard to move into a new generation of home automation products.
The product will have an initial capability of 8+3 zones, complete with LED keypad. Standard features such as 15 user codes, tamper lockout, four keypads per system, 200 event log are incorporated. The panel has a fully integrated plug-in communicator, capable of communicating standard reporting functions including 4x2 standard, ADEMCO 4x2 express, superfast and contact ID.
Maximum user flexibility has been incorporated with programmable dual entry timers, exit timer and siren output timer. Included are four programmable trigger outputs and an RS232 a serial output for integration functions. The aesthetically contoured keypad makes for easy installation and operation. The arrangement of the 8-zone LED keypad is such as that the display is easily readable. In addition, attention was shown during design to the problems created by lightning and other severe environmental conditions. The initial 8+3 panel will be followed by a 16-zone expandable version using an LCD keypad.
Mel Labuschagne, National Sales Manager of the Pi product range, is confident that the control panel will address the major market shift that is occurring towards more cost-effective panels. "The market requirement toward cost-effective, quality panels is a reality. This has been brought about by increased supplier competition, coupled with the improved buying power of alarm companies. The Pi panel will be exceptionally well priced with the added advantage of being able to incorporate customer-specific requirements."
