FLIR has added a number of enhancements to its F-Series and PT-Series security cameras, including a new and user-friendly Web interface, an enhanced level of security with three login levels, and continuous e-zoom functionality.
Thermal imaging is the use of cameras constructed with special sensors that 'see' thermal energy emitted from an object. Thermal or infrared energy is light that is not visible to the human eye because its wavelength is too long to be detected. It is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat.
Infrared allows us to see what our eyes cannot. Thermal imaging cameras produce images of invisible infrared or heat radiation. Based on temperature differences between objects, thermal imaging produces a clear image. It is an excellent tool for predictive maintenance, building inspections, research and development and automation applications. It can see in total darkness, in the darkest of nights, through fog, in the far distance and through smoke. It is also used for security and surveillance, maritime, automotive, fire-fighting and many other applications.
E-zoom functionality has now been added to all 640x480 versions of F-Series and PT-Series cameras. This means that there are now no fixed intervals while using the zoom functionality; users can now stop at any zoom position. The e-zoom appears as a very smooth and continuous image along the entire zoom range.
Other new features include a new Web interface that offers a live streaming video page and Web-based camera controls (for pan-tilt-zoom functionality, pre-set and scan lists, AGC pre-sets and much more) and enhanced security with three login levels (user, expert and admin).
FLIR F-Series
F-Series thermal security cameras let users see intruders and other threats clearly in total darkness and in bad weather. Fully enabled for control and operation over digital and analogue networks, F-Series thermal imaging cameras are available in 160 × 120, 320 × 240, and high-resolution 640 × 480 formats, providing up to 16 times the image clarity and longer threat detection range performance than lower resolution cameras.
FLIR PT-Series
Network-ready, pan-tilt, multi-sensor thermal security cameras, the PT-Series allows users to see intruders and other threats clearly in total darkness and bad weather. The PT-Series precision pan/tilt mechanism gives operators accurate pointing control while providing fully programmable scan patterns, radar slew-to-cue, and slew-to-alarm functionality. Fully enabled for control and operation over digital and serial networks, PT-Series thermal cameras are available in 160 × 120, 320 × 240, and high-resolution 640 × 480 formats, providing up to 16 times the image clarity and longer threat detection range performance than lower resolution thermal cameras. Multi-sensor configurations also include a day/night 36 × zoom colour CCD camera on the same pan/tilt package.
