Found in prestigious buildings throughout the world, including the ultra-luxurious Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, Fermax intercom systems have been rated top of their class by Elvey Security Technologies. Accordingly, says Elvey’s sales director Ingo Mutinelli, his company has added the Fermax range to its stock offering of internationally acclaimed security brands.
Founded in 1949 by Fernando Maestre, Fermax designs, manufactures and specialises in digital audio and video door entry systems for homes and businesses. Such is the quality of Fermax’s products that they are found in the most emblematic and high-end buildings around the globe. The Palm Jumeirah has installed Fermax kits in 1800 homes; in Melbourne, Australia, 560 apartments in Eureka Towers rely on Fermax to identify callers and the same is true for 1600 units in Turkey’s Mashattan Project and 442 homes in the Orion Building in Birmingham, England.
Shalen Naicker, MD of Fermax South Africa, says: “Fermax is a family business of Spanish origins, with our head office based in Valencia, Spain. Over the last 64 years, Fermax has grown into a trusted and formidable brand. We currently have 16 offices globally and distribute to 85 countries.”
Adds Mutinelli: “We’ve tested many different intercom systems and Fermax consistently outperforms its challengers. Not only are we stocking a range of Fermax products but we will also be offering full training on them.”
One of the most basic forms of access control, Mutinelli says intercom systems have a vital role to play with regard to assisting property owners decide who enters their premises and who is denied access. A simple answer to convenience, comfort and security at home.
For single family homes and offices, he recommends the new extra slim and elegant Fermax 1:1 Audio Mini Kit which is expandable up to three handsets. Homes with standalone cottages/offices, or which are partitioned off into separate sections, are best served by the Fermax 2:2 Audio Mini Kit, expandable up to three handsets. This kit allows visitors to choose the button associated to the residence, thereby avoiding disturbing the wrong resident.
Also available at any Elvey branch, is the Colour VDS Video 1:1 City Kit, which turns a basic audio door entry installation into video door entry. Worldwide patented invention in 1980 of the digital video entry systems technology by Fermax allows for an easy installation or replacement of an existing 5-wire audio system with a Fermax video system.
Occupying the space of a telephone, the monitor links the home or business to the outside world by displaying who is at the outdoor station in sharp colour. The 3,5-inch TFT screen, designed to suit the aesthetics of modern homes and lifestyles, is simple yet functional, combining quality and design. It’s a unique, integrated concept that forms the core of LOFT technology and design, says Mutinelli, adding that its elegant features are suited to any building.
All outdoor stations are manufactured with aluminium and are highly weather resistant. “The beauty of aluminium is that it is easy to clean and will maintain its upmarket aesthetic look long after plastic stations have faded as a result of prolonged exposure to the sun,” he explains. Indoor units are made of high impact ABS plastic, with a textured finish that allows for easy cleaning as well as ultraviolet protection for better light resistance.
