Momentum builds for IFSEC SA 2014

November 2013 News & Events, Conferences & Events

Following the successful conclusion of IFSEC SA 2013, 55% of the available stand space for 2014 has already been booked. The event will be held at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 13 to 15 May 2014.

Together with a number of new exhibitors, the interest from past exhibitors is keen. According to Charlene Hefer, IFSEC SA event director at show organiser UBM Montgomery, the company has received a number of enquiries from organisations who have witnessed the success of the exhibition over the past 20 years.

“The IFSEC SA team is also currently in negotiations with a number of previous show exhibitors to customise solutions that best fit their needs and budgets. Sales are picking up and we expect to conclude a number of contracts in the weeks preceding the annual December shutdown,” Hefer added. “We have seen an increased interest from fire detection and suppression companies and this will be reflected in a number of new exhibitor stands.”

UBM Montgomery has confirmed that it has formed a collaborative partnership with both ESDA (Electronic Security Distributors Association) and SAIDSA (South African Intruder Detection Services Association). “These relationships will further enhance the benefits to both members of these Associations as well as to the security technology consumer. The information that ESDA and SAIDSA are able to provide us with is invaluable, while in turn IFSEC SA will provide a perfect launchpad for their members’ products and solutions,” said Hefer. “We are in the process of firming up more industry partnerships and these will be announced shortly.”

In addition to once again being co-located with the OSH EXPO Africa show, IFSEC SA 2014 will again feature the IFSEC South Africa Seminar Theatre. This forum allows a number of specialists in various security modalities to share valued information with visitors in a formalised manner through short presentations.

Hefer pointed out that the local exhibitor content is as much as 75%. With an array of both quality imported as well as locally-produced technology, the show also attracts international exhibitors. “The mix of local and international offerings provides visitors with the opportunity to choose solutions which best suit their specific requirements.”

From a visitor perspective, IFSEC SA 2013 attracted 256 international visitors from 43 different countries, 19 of which emanated from the African continent. Of the total 6696 visitors, 46% had never previously visited the show and at least 25% of them were security managers/officers or directors, followed closely by business development directors or managers. A further approximately 25% were involved in some aspect of health and safety, security and risk, loss prevention or facilities management role.
