Gallagher supports Mifare DESFire

August 2013 Access Control & Identity Management

Gallagher Security has announced the launch of T20, the latest addition to its T Series range of smartcard and multi-technology readers. Designed to deliver performance as a high-traffic access control card + PIN reader, T20 supports newer and more secure variants of smartcard technology, including such systems as Mifare DESFire EV1, Plus and Classic. A multi-tech version of T20 also supports 125 kHz technology.

The new reader is backwardly compatible with installed Gallagher Controller and GBUS URI hardware, with the multi-tech version enabling managed transition to higher level security without interruption to business

T20 combines contemporary design with enhanced environmental protection. An intuitive user interface with a 3,5-inch colour TFT LED screen and large backlit keys provides a rapid means of performing key functions while minimising disruption to traffic flow. Icons guide users to present their card, enter their PIN if required, and pass through the door when appropriate. Door and alarm zone status can be established at a glance prior to any interaction with the terminal.

Daniel McVeagh, senior product manager said, “The launch of T20 is an important development for Gallagher, offering a combination of features and security in a card plus PIN door reader. The T20 supports both legacy access cards and the latest high security smartcards, making it the perfect option for sites migrating to the more secure card technologies.”
