Crime prevention has come a long way since the days of lying awake at night listening for sounds of disturbance. Microdots are the latest technology to hit the market in asset protection and theft deterrence.
Veridot is a tiny microscopic dot the size of a grain of sand. These microdots can be applied to almost any valuable asset such as computers, iPads, microwaves, fridges, DVD players and TVs. Simply spraying your assets and uploading your information to a database will qualify you for at least a 10% discount on your insurance premium. More importantly should your asset be recovered it can now be easily identified by the legitimate owner.
Veridot has been internationally recognised as a ‘vehicle theft deterrent’. On the 1st September 2012, the South African National Traffic Act legislated that all ‘first registered’ and ‘Police Clearance’ vehicles, trailers and motorbikes are to be fitted with microdots.
Over 600 fitters are currently applying Veridot nationally, and this number is growing daily. Original equipment manufacturers such as Ford, John Deere, Chrysler Jeep and Dodge, Peugeot, Citroen Fiat and Alfa, to name a few, are recognising the benefits of Veridot.
To ascertain if your vehicle is marked, one only has to look for the easily identifiable sticker on the rear quarter glass window. You should see the black, red and white Veridot hexagon sticker.
Some of the advantages to the Veridot system are:
* It can be applied anywhere, anytime and at any place. It does not require the complexities or cost of specialised spray equipment, compressed airlines or dedicated power supplies.
* It is a nickel-based microdot, which is anti corrosive.
* The nitro cellulose adhesive is specifically designed for vehicle application.
* A microdot with holographic security features.
* The data management system is secure and user friendly allowing for easy uploads to eNatis.
* On-site training and fitment.

Holomatrix works closely with organisations like BAC (Business against Crime) and the SAPS to curb rampant crime in SA. A new microdot body MASA was recently established to help regulate the industry. This committee meets regularly to ensure that the Microdot legislation is carried out at all costs. The committee works through the challenges and resolves to rid theft and crime in this country. Microdot technology can boast a 50% reduction in vehicle theft and up to an 87% recovery, which is comforting to both the man on the street and to the microdot manufactures.
