The HomeDVR is a solution for home and/or business owners who do not wish to make use of a security guard. The system allows the user to check visitors through a camera installed at the front door or any other room in the home or office. The unit records data to the computer's hard drive and can be viewed and saved at a later stage.
When used with a TCP/IP Network, the user is able to remotely view the cameras connected to the HomeDVR. The HomeDVR runs while other applications are open, which means you can monitor and work at the same time. The user-friendly interface provides easy control over the system's features and monitoring of the cameras. Cameras can be viewed in full screen, in quad mode or can be sequenced every couple of seconds or minutes. A video output also allows the video cameras to be monitored on a TV with a video output. This output can be switched between cameras at a set interval.
A built-in software motion detection function allows the user to define a 'block of interest' for each camera. When there is motion within this block, the system recording is activated. Other methods of recording activation include triggering from external alarm sensors such as passive infrareds. The user can also schedule recording times on a weekly basis. Video is recorded to the computer's HDD in 10 min clips. The system can be set up to stop recording when its allocated space is filled up or to write over the video from the start. Video clip can be backed-up to disk or printed out for later use. Other features include adjustable colour settings, back-up to CD-R or DVD and remote viewing via TCP/IP network.
